Kate Moss & Christian Roth: A Match Made in Heaven

Kate Moss wearing Christian Roth 6008 Sunglasses featured in Harper's Bazaar Uomo 1992 Magazine

In the 1990’s there were very few fashion trends that didn’t involve supermodel Kate Moss. As Kate bursted on the scene she brought with her an effortlessly cool style that was needed in fashion culture. Kate’s “laissez faire” attitude inspired high fashion brands of the 90’s to rethink their presentation of what fashion attitude looked like.

I don’t think you can talk 1990’s eyewear in the same sentence as Kate Moss without pointing attention to Christian Roth and the Optical Affairs brand. The duo of Eric Dommage and Christian Roth was as 1990’s rock n roll eyewear as you can get! Optical Affairs and the Christian Roth team were known for their shapes, not logos. Many of the fashion editorials of the 1990’s included their sunglasses in an iconic way. One of our favourite editorials features Kate Moss for Harper’s Bazaar Uomo from her 1992 editorial shot by photographer Stephanie Pfriender Stylander featuring the Christian Roth 4001 sunglasses:

The Vintage Frames Company team has been huge fans of the Christian Roth and Optical Affairs brands since its early beginning. The quality of Optical Affairs has lasted the test of time not only in its construction, but its classic sunglasses style.
