"The rarest frames in the world deserve a lens that's equally rare. We don't believe in off-the-shelf. We believe in made for you."

When you purchase a frame from Vintage Frames, you're not just buying eyewear — you're commissioning a piece. Every lens is selected, tinted, and finished to your specifications, by craftspeople who have been working with optics for decades. The frame you choose is the beginning of the story. How you see the world is up to you.

Single vision

How do I add my prescription?

Once you’ve selected your frame, click the “Add Prescription Lenses” button located just below the yellow “Add to Cart.” This will take you into our lens customization flow.

  1. Choose your lens type. You can select Single Vision Prescription, Progressive Prescription, or Fashion Non-RX lenses.
  2. Submit your prescription. You can upload a photo or PDF, or send it later via email. Uploading it upfront is recommended so our team can review it and follow up if needed.
  3. Select your lens material. CR-39 is the standard option, 1.67 High Index is thinner and more advanced, and 1.74 Ultra High Index is the thinnest and highest quality available.
  4. Choose your lens color. Options include Clear, Solid, Gradient, Transition (photochromatic), Polarized, and Color Match, which replicates the original lens color of your frame.
  5. Add coatings and enhancements. Available options are None, Anti-Reflective, Blue Light Blocker, or Anti-Reflective combined with Blue Light Blocker.

Once all steps are completed, you’ll see a final summary of your frame and lens selection. Click “Add to Cart” to save and add your customized pair to your basket.

Can I get any frame with prescription lenses?

The vast majority of frames in our collection and designer archive are compatible with prescription lenses. If a specific frame has limitations, it will be noted on the product page. When in doubt, reach out — we'll let you know what's possible!

What does Color Match mean exactly?

Color Match means we recreate the original tint of your frame's base lens — the color it comes in — and apply it to your prescription lens. So you get the exact look of the original frame, with your vision correction built in. It's the simplest way to get prescription lenses without choosing a new color.

How long does customization take?

Fashion lens customization and prescription lenses take 5-10 business days depending on the volume of orders and/or your prescription complexity. We'll do our best to update you along the way.

What's the difference between single vision and progressive?

Single vision lenses correct one focal distance, either near for reading or far for distance.

Progressive lenses provide correction for multiple distances in a single lens with no visible line. If your prescription includes values in the “ADD” column, you will require progressive lenses.

What is your policy on custom lens returns?

Because every pair is made to order, custom lenses are non-refundable. However, if there's a manufacturing defect or an error on our part, we'll remake your lenses at no charge, under our 1-year manufacturing warranty. We stand behind our work.
