Job: Card Specialist

Who Are You:
My name is Davon Ford. I'm from Baltimore Maryland and I've been collecting vintage Frames for the last 3yrs or so.

What is your most prized pair of Vintage Frames and why:
Cazal 858 Deluxe! It took me forever to track this frame down and I got it for dirt cheap. I've always loved the 858 even when I didn't know what it was it was like no other frame I had ever seen in my life. When I started collecting I kept looking for a pink pair and just before I purchased a normal pink 858 I saw the deluxe and went crazy for them. I was so pumped when I finally got them I didn't know what to do. Now I wear them when I fell like a Fancy Nigga and wanna break necks lol.

What is your earliest memory of a pair of frames that stuck in your head until today:
I remember as a kid when everyone would wear the dime store Wayfarer knock offs in the day glow colors. I was the only kid that could mess with them cause I had the biggest fucking head ever. It use to burn my soul those glasses didn't fit.

If you could stumble upon 1 pair of Vintage Frames, what would it be:
Brown Cazal 642 Large!!!!

About how many Vintage Frames do you have in your collection:
Around 40 pairs

Why do you choose Vintage Frames instead of new eyewear:
I wear Vintage Frames over newer frames for many reasons. My biggest issue is quality! And it's very rare that I'll see a vintage frame that doesn't meet my standards. The fact that the Optyl, Zyl, etc.. are still hold their sheen amazes me. I mean I pick up a vintage Playboy frame and it looks like it just came off the assembly line. And they hold up well I beat the hell out of my Porsche 5623s and they still look new with no imperfections.

Also I fell that vintage frames are much more inspired than newer frames. Most new frames only come in dark colors and block out your eyes, I can't stand that, and are big ugly ass shields. Most are just marketing tools with oversized logo's that distract from the frame. Like the shit D&G, Chanel, Dior, Etc.. produce now. I squarely blame Luxottica for the shit they put out now and what they reduced Ray Ban too. Uuuggghh!

But my main reason for wearing vintage frames over newer frames is the community. People who collect older glasses appreciate them and understand how to wear them. Most heads now adays want to rock the same frames to fit in with their pals and Jock Kanye or Pharrell style. I got a pair of LV Millionaires because the frame build is amazing most kids got them because Ye wore them to an award and they want E-cool points on the Internet. Lol I just wish people appreciated a frame for the frame and not the person who made it famous.
