I know for most of the girls born in my generation, they are children of the Disney Princess era and hold The Little Mermaid somewhere in their heart. Now while Ariel can be classified as somewhat of a recent phenomenon, the mystique and legends of Mermaids are as old as tale telling exist. The Ancient Greeks told tales of the mythical Sirens, dangerous and beautiful creatures who lured nearby sailors with their enchanting music and voices to shipwreck on the rocky coast of their island. This became the foundation for the folklore surrounding Mermaids; whose presence can be found in many fold tales spanning from Europe, Africa and Asia. Their appearance of a beautiful woman's upper body and a fish like tail for their lower half, have inspired a number of trends in fashion.
